Well, this may be a bit of a game-changer, but probably not much: Palin Endorses Trump. Excerpt:
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) has said he wouldn’t be in Congress without former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
And now, Palin is lending that endorsement support to Cruz’s competitor for the GOP presidential nomination: Donald Trump.
And Trump dug in the knife by quoting Cruz in his response to Palin’s endorsement. “She can pick winners,” goes the Cruz quote in the Trump statement.
“I’m proud to endorse Donald J. Trump for president,” Palin, who will appear at an Iowa rally with Trump tonight, said in a statement provided by Trump’s campaign.
Trump had been boasting that a “big announcement” was coming tonight in Ames, Iowa.
“I am greatly honored to receive Sarah’s endorsement,” Trump said in his own statement. “She is a friend, and a high-quality person whom I have great respect for. I am proud to have her support.”
The Donald will make a lot out of this, but honestly, this isn’t all that much of a much. In fact, this may cost The Donald some crossover votes. Sarah Palin is almost universally despised by Democrats – in many cases, unfairly so – and some old, blue-collar, rural Reagan Democrats may shy away from Trump because of this.
Then again, they might not. As I said, in the larger scheme of things, I doubt this will make that much difference.
In other news, Her Majesty Hillary I is feeling the Bern in New Hampshire, and elsewhere. Now, in the considered opinion of yr. obdt., this isn’t really because the daffy old Bolshevik from Vermont is gaining any traction from any primary voters other than economically illiterate Millennials. It’s probably more due to the revelations of Her Highness’ flagrant disregard for the law and her rampant corruption and dishonesty.
It’s truly amazing that a major American political party can’t come up with any candidates better than these.
