It feels a little fuzzy this early, early Wednesday morning, and I’m not really up for much deep thinking. And so…
On To the Links!
As if coronavirus wasn’t enough!
Why the Left is losing. Here’s my favorite bit:
To be blunt, left-wing political correctness is more powerful than the right-wing variant. For instance, many social conservatives may dislike environmentalist candidates in their ranks, but dissidents on the left of a conservative party won’t have their character questioned and reputation trashed. By contrast, a left-wing politician who moves right on culture—calling for lower immigration or abolishing female-only shortlists, for instance—is likely to be accused of racism or sexism by radical online activists. This causes them intense embarrassment and, by triggering a social taboo, may lead others to pile on them to signal virtue. This can damage a person’s reputation well beyond politics.
I should say!
Tom Steyer, who will never be President, was caught badly off guard the other day, and the results are telling – he’s a dissembling asshole.
Why Trump is winning. Here’s my favorite bit:
While Trump’s critics find much of his track record is objectionable, that same record is just what many of his supporters hoped for — and then some. From record-high employment for African Americans and other minorities, to a new trade deal with China, replacing NAFTA with USMCA, unbuckling the regulatory environment, moving the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, progress toward building a border wall and draining the Washington swamp, Trump is picking up some independents, Democrats, blacks and other minorities.
This Week’s Idiots:
These student loan defaulters are all idiots.
Angela Ruskin University professor Patricia MacCormack is an idiot.
Maxine Waters is an idiot. (Yes, I know, that one is belaboring the obvious.)
Mike Bloomberg is an elitist fuckstick, and an idiot.
And Now:
I think I’m still a trifle jet-lagged. I lieu of any pithy comments for today, have another piece of totty from the archives.
And on that note, we return you to your Wednesday, already in progress.
