Animal’s Daily Immunity News

Before I get into this, check out my buddy UnCivil Servant’s latest chapter of Prince of the North Tower over at Glibertarians!

Now then: A recent Supreme Court decision will throw a block under the wheels of some anti-Trump lawfare, and despite the hysterical whining of the left, actually does have some significant implications.  Several of my RedState colleagues, who are more legally-minded (in several respects) than me have already covered this better than I ever could:

BREAKING: Supreme Court Rules on Presidential Immunity

And, of course, the legacy media is chiming in:

In a monumental decision Monday, the Supreme Court ruled that former presidents enjoy a presumption of criminal immunity for official acts while in the White House, handing a win to former President Trump.

The move is likely to delay Trump’s federal election subversion case in Washington, D.C. by sending the case back to a lower court to decide whether his actions on Jan. 6 merit protection from criminal prosecution for decisions he made while in the White House.

Trump’s appeal froze that indictment, where a federal court has charged him with conspiring to subvert the 2020 election results, preventing it moving ahead toward trial.

The Supreme Court’s ruling comes four months before Election Day, when Trump hopes to retake the White House, giving him the authority to stop his prosecutions from proceeding and possibly fire special counsel Jack Smith.

My take?  This is just another nail in the coffin of daffy old Joe Biden’s re-election effort.  This slams the door in one major piece of lawfare against former President Donald Trump, and after last week’s horrendous debate performance, well, let’s face it, lawfare is all the Demos have left, aside from outright rebellion.

And let’s be honest, rebellion isn’t going to work out well for them.

It’s still a long time to go until November, but things are continually edging Trump’s way, at least so far.  But if he wins, well, I’ll just repeat my standard caution: If you can, get the hell out of the cities.
