Bear Creek

This is where it all began, the house on Bear Creek.

Tree House

Sadly, the tree house had to come down a few years ago, due to age and deterioration of the tree it was in. I spent many a night in there when I was a teenager.

Bear Creek

Another view of the house. The sweet lady tending the flowers is my Mom.

Country Road

A typical country road in northeast Iowa.

Giant Cottonwood

This tree is close to six feet through at the base. Cottonwoods in northeast Iowa bottomlands can grow larger than this.

Summer House

A nice view of the summer house, which looks out over the lower meadow.

Misty Morning

Warm summer mornings bring mist to the cold waters of the creek.

Woods in Winter

The woods just uphill from Bear Creek in late November.

An Old Oak

Old oaks like this, with ragged branches and many holes, provide homes for many kinds of animals and birds.

Bittersweet

Bittersweet grows all through the hills of northeast Iowa.

Snow on Bear Creek

Late afternoon on the creek, with a good foot of snow on the ground.

Lower Meadow

View from the summer house of the lower meadow in autumn.

Whitetail Deer

A common site all over Iowa. Too common, in some places.

Bear Creek in autumn

A nice view of the creek in November.
